The Board of Directors may also approve a Director/Associate Director of a Porphyria Center of Expertise.

Annual Membership Fee
$250

Medical, scientific, research, laboratory, or allied health professional whose work contributes to the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, management, or study of the porphyrias and/or heme biosynthesis. Affiliate Members may include basic, translational, or clinical researchers; physicians and other healthcare professionals; laboratory and diagnostic specialists; genetic counselors; research coordinators; and other professionals with demonstrated involvement in the porphyria field. Affiliate Members may work at a Porphyria Center of Expertise, another medical or academic institution, a research organization, or independently within the field. The Board may, at its discretion, approve other applicants whose professional activities meaningfully contribute to the APEX mission.

Annual Membership Fee
$100

Impartial and non-political patient groups focused on efforts to improve the education, awareness, care and treatment of patients and families with the eight major porphyrias and their variants.

Benefits
Advocacy Group an attend or send a representative to the Annual General meeting, but do not have voting rights. Advocacy groups will be invited to join with other such groups and have a special session at annual or Biennial symposia or other educational APEX meetings. 

Annual Membership Fee
$100 

A public or private corporation involved in the diagnosis and/or treatment of the Porphyrias, including diagnostic laboratories, biotech companies developing new treatments or cures, drug distributors and clinical research organizations that provide research or laboratory services for clinical trials, or companies that promote education to porphyria patients.

Benefits
Industry/Corporate members can attend or send a representative to the Annual General meeting but do not have voting rights. Industry/corporate members, including diagnostic laboratories, will be invited to meet with the Board of Directors annually.   

Membership Fee
To be agreed upon on case-by-case basis.
